The Dove - Respighi (Harp Solo)

$6.00

This arrangement is part of the At Your Fingertips series of classical works arranged for the harp at a late-intermediate level.  The Birds, or Gli uccelli (1928) is a set of 5 tone poems by Ottorino Respighi, composed in the style of four Baroque composers for a smaller orchestral group.  The second movement “The Dove” or “La colomba” is based on a work of seventeenth-century composer Jacques de Gallot.  Much of the original harp part with sonorous rolled chords, delicate harmonics, and moving eighth notes in sixths has been retained.  The beginning of “The Dove” is stately and mournful; the second part is a lively representation of fluttering wings using dainty trills to accompany reprises of the opening theme.
